Topics:          Beyond Game Composition: In and Around Game Audio

This month, we'll be hearing from a composer, audio director and all-around game development leader whose work has been heard and felt in some of modern gaming's biggest titles: the one and only Alexander Horowitz!

For those who aren't familiar with Alexander yet, allow me to give him a proper introduction! He’s currently the Creative Craft Director at Electronic Arts’ Criterion studio, where he’s contributed to MASSIVE titles such as Battlefield 6 (wow!). Before stepping up to the plate as a director at EA, he served as audio director across multiple major studios, including Criterion, Improbable, and Studio Gobo, where he led the European audio team on Hogwarts Legacy (I worked on that too!) and contributed original tracks such as A Focused Mind and The Room of Hidden Things for our Grammy-nominated score.

And that's only scratching the surface! Alexander has worked on a plethora of AAA titles, including Red Dead Redemption 2, Grand Theft Auto V, and Madden NFL 17... and the list goes on. Yet beyond the resume, what truly sets Alexander apart is the breadth and depth of his experience. From session musician to audio director, he’s built a career defined not only by high-level craft, but by enabling others to do their best work on some of the most demanding productions in the industry today.

And that’s exactly what makes this masterclass so exciting!

This is a rare opportunity to hear from someone who has not only worked in the industry as a composer and audio specialist, but who has also helped define how it operates at the highest level. His experience as an audio director and Creative Craft Director has given him a unique perspective on what it truly takes to deliver AAA-quality game audio for large-scale productions; not just in terms of sound, but also in how teams function, how creative decisions are made, and what it takes to contribute meaningfully to projects of this magnitude.

If you’re serious about working in game audio, or even just curious about how these massive productions actually come together behind the scenes, then April's upcoming masterclass is one you won’t want to miss!

I can't wait to hear what Alexander has to say, and I hope that you'll be there right alongside me as we learn from one of the industry's most exciting young stars. I look forward to seeing you there; this one is going to be special!

Synth Design

Many Hollywood composers outsource this essential component of a score's timbral palette. Build custom synthesizer patches to give your music a modern, cinematic edge completely unique to you.

Virtual Orchestration

Composers have always needed lateral skills to succeed. One of these skills is Virtual Orchestration and Audio Production. Of two  otherwise equal composers, the one with better production will always get the gig.
